Pure bliss! It would be great, if the app had some sort of a timer and progression. Think of how cool itd be to go to bed with the comfort of a (virtually) warm fireplace burning away, and having set the timer for a couple hours later, you wake up to see that the log is almost totally burned out! I think thatd be just pure coolness right there! Also, it should be shot in like super HD

After installing this app, all my .xml and .xls files open in this firplace app. I do not recommend a simple app such as this that needs to make everyday files opening in fireplace. Save yourself the only 5 minutes of time youll ever use this app.

I purchased this app when he was selling it for 99 cents. (no, not the plus app, this one). Then he came out with the plus app and made this one free, and put a huge upgrade sticker on this one. So now, my purchase is useless, and my paid version is now the free one with a huge ad on it. Rediculous. I want my money back.

Only change is the icon has rounded edges, but put on this huge advertisment as the bottom. DO NOT UPDATE. EVER.

Some people are saying the ONLY change is that they added an app and rounded the corners on the icon. NOT TRUE. If you notice they say this upgrade takes up less space? HALF to be exact. Since they claimed this, before I updated I checked the file and saw it was 199MB, after the upgrade it is only 100MB. Half the space is great, and it takes up less CPU power to run. I dont mind the ad in the slightest because I always run this on full screen when Im not using my computer anyway, so the ad is not visible on fullscreen. I dont really know why it would be such an issue to people, but I suppose people are entiled to me mad about anything they want. Enjoy this wonderful app!

Does what it says it does. It has an ad, but that disappears in ful screen view, which is how you are going to use it. I like it. I aggree with an earlier post that it would be really cool if the app had a timer and progression option. To have it work as is or to have the option to see it burn down over a certain amount of time to just coals. Good app. Thanks

A little disappointed with the drop to free, but there are no ads in full screen mode and that is how I use the app when I do use it. Overall, very happy with the new version.

The application does exactly what it says and nothing more. A little too simple in my opinion. It features two options: Fullscreen and a Crackle option that adjusts the volume of the crackling sound. How it works: It plays one of two identical 57 second long 1440x1080 H.264 encoded MOV files and seemlessly interchanges between them. It would be nice if there were a function to use this as a screensaver or an active desktop background. It would also be nice to be able to adjust the window size. UPDATE: Well he got rid of the duplicate copy of the video making the program much smaller. It definitely runs better (no more running my MBP fans). However the ad might be annoying. I solved it by replacing the graphic in the button with my own so I dont have to look at it. Hint: Show package contents>Contents>Resources>premium_button_bkgrnd.png Replace that image with your own. Problem solved.

Every day there is an update, but the update is always to version 1.2. Very annoying and frustrating.

Take a look at the app preview shots above. Now picture that nice looking fireplace with a massive ad underneath it. What a deceptive "update". I could understand if this free version had an ad that you could close - just a little reminder that youre using the free app and that theres a way to permanently get rid of it. No such luck. This is useless now. I dont want to use it in fullscreen all the time. If the monstrous ad doesnt have the option to be removed in the next update, then this one is going to the trash bin. I have no problem supporting developers, but not when they try to force our hands.

The old version of this was amazing! Since I updated the app, Ive noticed that there is a definite break in the video, as well as the crackle audio track. Never used to happen in the previous version. Disappointing... its not that hard to transition the loop a little more seamlessly.

Very offended by the sudden ad stuck on the Fireplace. Trashed it.

This is my first experience with downloading an app after upgrading to snow leopard. I considered these reviews, and the comments for the other fireplaces as well. My, what a cutthroat dog-eat-dog world the realm of free and ninity-nine cent fake fireplaces is! My highest hope for this fireplace was to turn it on upon turning in to sleep on what remained of winter nights. My first test of this fireplace disabused me of that notion when the nice crackling sound soon received competition from the sound of my macbook fan going on. I may be overcautious about this, but whenever my fan goes on I stop what Im doing until it goes off. I took a bit of a chance letting the fire go during a lunch break and there seemed to be no repucussions - but I will never let it go further than that. That said, the fire makes for a very pleasant short duration break. The break in the surprisingly long loop can easily be attributed to the momentary oxygen gasps experienced by real fires. A minor flaw is that the flames seem to blaze a bit unnaturally fast, detracting somewhat from the mellowing effect, but the fan issue had already precluded extended relaxation on my part. Though the upgrade touted halving the file size, for some reason this didnt reflect in my remaining HD space, but I am still happy to have this app.

Its simple and does just what it should. Good for relaxing in a hotel room

Love the app - but I found my HD (on my poor little MBA) full! Tracked it down to a CSUtracker.xml file tied to the application that swelled to 68.2G on disk. This is megga-bad. Cant be doing this to my local storage! Clearly you have forgotten to issue a cleanup process in your program. Going to have to uninstall and abandone it if its going to fill up my hard-drive.

I bought this app when it was $0.99 and it was great. Then he released it free. Now he releases a new app for the same price and slaps an upgrade button on this app. What a thief.
